A PLACE OF HIDING
This is the first thriller that I’ve read in years. In the past I found thrillers to be a bit tedious because I always missed all of the clues as to who the killer might be and that  always frustrated me. I was pleasantly surprised however with this book ‘A place of hiding’ by Elizabeth George. It is a well-paced novel whose story line goes far beyond the simple ‘murder’ mystery. The story takes place on the island of Guernsey in the English Channel.  The murder of Guy Brouard , one of the islands wealthiest inhabitants  seems to have a connection with his having to flee the Nazis in Paris as a child. The other characters in this book are all very interesting and with unique stories of their own. As the story unfolds there are many sub plots as to who could have killed Guy and their reasons. The story is  well thought out and all of the sub plots connect nicely .  The ending to the main story is very spectacular and unusual .. BUT..  I think the ending of one of the sub plots is the one that will most surprise you and that will remain in your memory.
